David Grodnick Murder-Suicide Montgomery, NJ Death, Obituary – Wife Lori And Daughter Sloane Found Dead
A devastating tragedy has struck the Grodnick family in Skillman, Montgomery Township, New Jersey, after three members of the family were found dead inside their home on Wild Azalea Lane. Local reporting identified the deceased as David Grodnick, his wife, Lora “Lori” Grodnick, and their 24-year-old daughter, Sloane Caroline Grodnick. Police discovered the bodies on October 2, 2026, while conducting a welfare check after concerns had been raised about the family.
According to the Montgomery Township Police Department and Somerset County authorities, officers found two adult women with apparent gunshot wounds and an adult man who appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A firearm was reportedly found in the man’s possession. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet publicly released a final determination of the causes and manners of death, with postmortem examinations planned as part of the investigation.
David Grodnick was a senior vice president and underwriting counsel for Land Services USA, where his work included business development and underwriting commercial real estate transactions. He studied business administration at the University of Miami and earned a degree in English from McDaniel College, where he also played lacrosse. His professional career and connections in the real estate industry formed an important part of his life in the years before the tragedy.
Lora “Lori” Grodnick, 62, and her daughter Sloane were also remembered as members of the family’s close-knit household. Sloane, 24, graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2024 and was enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at the Rhode Island School of Design. As a child, she also drew local attention for organizing an effort to help an abused young girl in Trenton, reflecting a compassionate side of her character that remained part of her story.
The circumstances leading to the discovery began several days earlier. Authorities received a residential alarm call on September 30, followed by a welfare-check request on October 1 after a neighbor became concerned about accumulated mail and the family’s lack of response to calls and messages. Officers initially could not make contact with anyone inside the home. They returned on October 2 and entered the residence, where they discovered the three bodies. Investigators have said there is no continuing threat to the wider community.
The deaths have left friends, neighbors and the wider Montgomery Township community confronting an extraordinarily painful loss. While investigators continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy, the lives of David, Lori and Sloane remain at the center of the grief felt by those who knew them. Their family, friends and loved ones now face the difficult task of mourning three lives lost at the same time, and they deserve compassion and privacy as the investigation continues.
